Members of the Ste. Genevieve Fire Department spent the past three days at Rosenbauer America in Wyoming, MN completing the final inspection on the city’s new 78’ Rosenbauer Group Smart Aerial Truck. The new truck has begun its journey to its new home in Ste. Genevieve! We as a department are very excited to get this truck in service and would like to thank the city and it’s citizens for providing us with this top notch piece of equipment! Sentinel Emergency Solutions.

Every year we honor the bravery, sacrifice and dedication of our members through these awards; this year’s recipients are examples of these qualities.

YEARS OF SERVICE AWARD
We would like to recognize the following members for their dedicated years of service to the citizens of Ste. Genevieve, MO:

FIRE CHIEF’S AWARD
This award was presented to the following firefighters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty:
Evan Grein, Owen Roth, Bo Caldwell, Mike Brocato, Justin Donovan

FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR

This year will mark the 125th anniversary of the Ste Genevieve Fire Department.
So keeping with the spirit of celebration here is a great vintage #TBT of SGFD members fighting a barn fire in 1956!

SGFD would like to welcome new firefighter Travis Wood to the department! Travis was previously a firefighter in Perryville, MO. We are happy to have him on our team!

Fire Fighter of the month for the month of November is Chief Ken Steiger! Ken has served the department for 33 years. He has college degrees in Fire Science & Emergency Medical Technology as well as a University of Missouri Fire Officer Certificate. Ken has also achieved State Certified Firefighter 1&2, along with HazMat Awareness and Operations, Fire Investigator, Fire Service Instructor and Fire Officer 2 certifications through the State of Missouri.

Ken is a member of the Jefferson/Franklin County Technical Rescue Task Force and the Ste Genevieve County Technical Rescue Team.

Ken has held the rank of Firefighter, Captain, training officer, Battalion Chief and Asst Chief prior to appointment as Chief of the Ste Genevieve Fire Department.

We are thankful for his dedication, service and are happy to take this opportunity to recognize him for his contributions to the department and the citizens we serve.

Construction on the new ladder truck continues and will be a great asset once completed!

 

SGFD would like to welcome two new firefighters to the department, Evan Grein and Wade Hahn!

Last week SGFD wrapped up another great fire prevention week! We had a great time teaching about fire safety at Ste Genevieve Elementary, Valle Catholic Elementary school and at our Fire Department! It was a great group of students and teachers. We look forward to coming back and doing it again next year!

Firefighter of the month for the month of Oct is Asst Chief Bob Bonnell! Bob has served SGFD for 40 years! Bob is Firefighter 1 certified and serves many duties at our department as Asst Chief including mentoring our new firefighters, operations, building and truck maintenance.

We are thankful for his dedication, service and are happy to take this opportunity to recognize him for his contributions to the department and the citizens we serve.

Ste Genevieve Fire Fighters had a great time sponsoring a team for the 12th annual Backstoppers benefit golf tourney this past Friday! The BackStoppers Inc. provides ongoing needed financial assistance and support to the spouses and dependent children of all police officers, firefighters and volunteer firefighters, and publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs in our coverage area who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
